Dear Pastor Prince and Team JP, we want to give Jesus all the glory, praise, and thanks for his finished work, which has saved our baby boy’s life during my pregnancy!
In the 3rd year of our marriage, we had the desire to have a baby! After trying naturally for a year without any positive results, we sought medical advice, got our checks done, and everything came out normal. The fertility doctor advised us to continue trying naturally for another 4 months before considering medical intervention.
The wait felt long and difficult with the repeated monthly disappointments, but the word that kept us going as we continued to trust the Lord for our baby was Romans 5:5, “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
That 4 months became another year. During this year, Pastor Prince had many sermons where he would trail off to pray for couples who were trusting the Lord to conceive. He mentioned a few times that the Lord can also use medical help, but only He can breathe life into existence. This slowly opened my heart to trying IVF. I was initially resistant to this as I thought our journey to conceiving would be the “natural” way.
During Re:Gen camp in August 2025, a word from Pastor Louis during one of the sessions spoke straight to me. He said, “Do one thing at a time,” and it felt like that was the next step of faith for us. After coming back from camp, we decided to give IVF a shot in my next cycle!
To my surprise, the process was supernaturally easy and light, even the injections! It was definitely the Lord who supplied that joy and strength at every step.
During the egg retrieval process, they retrieved 17 in total. However, out of 17 fertilized eggs, only 1 made it into an embryo of “fair” quality that could be transferred in a fresh cycle. It was labeled as a “Grade C”. We were taken aback as we thought we would have more viable embryos with the initial number of eggs retrieved!
Despite this, we trusted the Lord. We only needed 1, and that was our very champion baby in the making, who He was going to breathe life into! That “C” in that Grade C just reminded us that it stands for Champion and Christ. True to His word, He did not disappoint, and I successfully conceived in our first IVF cycle! Praise the Lord!
My first trimester was smooth, and I did not have many pregnancy symptoms. However, during my routine week 20 ultrasound scan (when we also found out his gender), the gynae discovered my amniotic fluid index (AFI), a.k.a. water bag levels, was very low at 3 cm. This was below half of the normal range. She asked if I had experienced any watery leaks recently, and only then did I recall waking up to some, a few weeks ago, when we were on holiday in Jeju. I didn’t think much of it back then, as I thought it was a normal pregnancy discharge, and there was no discomfort since then.
I had to do a test immediately after the scan to check for fluid leakage, and it came out negative. Relieved, we continued to plan for our upcoming babymoon trip to Japan the following week.
However, a day later, I received a call from the same gynae who asked me to return to the clinic the next day as they had discussed my case during their weekly Thursday gynae meeting, where they flag “high-risk” cases. They were all concerned that the previous test result was a false negative.
I returned for the test the next day. This time, it turned out to be positive. I was diagnosed with a medical condition called PPROM (Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes). I had to be warded immediately and indefinitely till I delivered. The gynae said that with this low amniotic fluid level, our baby’s lungs will have trouble developing, and his limbs will not be able to fully stretch out as he has limited room to move freely in the womb.
More critically, since the amniotic sac had broken, there is a risk of early delivery and infection of the amniotic fluid, placental tissues (chorioamnionitis) or maternal sepsis can develop rapidly, which could be life threatening to both our baby and I. Medically, they are not able to do anything to locate or “seal” the leak but can only treat any brewing infection and hope for the best.
As I was only at week 20, our baby is not viable and cannot survive outside the womb. The age of viability begins at 24 weeks of gestation, and even then, his survival requires immediate and intensive neonatal medical intervention.
The gynae gave us 2 grim choices:
She explained that based on the hospital’s previous patients with this condition, the chances of making it to full term are very low, as the latency of the rupture of the amniotic sac and the onset of labor can be days to a few weeks. She told us to be prepared for the worst-case scenario.
Our world collapsed. It was such a shocking diagnosis, and my husband and I could not believe it. We could not stop crying that day. Our hearts were crushed, and we were at a loss. There was absolutely nothing we could do with our own efforts. It felt like a death sentence was suddenly served to us that morning without any warning.
Within the next few hours, I was immediately started on antibiotics IV drip to treat any brewing infection. The gynae repeated I had to stay warded for continuous fetal and maternal monitoring till I delivered.
That night in the hospital, our minds were all over the place, and our hearts were so weak, grappling with this sudden diagnosis. Physically, I felt fine, but it was hard to comprehend what was going on. We could not imagine losing our baby boy, whom we had waited for 2 years to conceive, and we knew without a doubt was a gift of life from the Lord.
Pastor Darren came down to take the Holy Communion with us and encouraged us to believe in the Lord “all the way,” no matter what the outcome was. My husband later shared he had a breakdown, crying near the lift when he saw Pastor Darren there at the hospital. Pastor Darren spoke life over our baby and told us to just bask in the Lord’s presence in worship as we believe him for my healing. “All the way” became somewhat of a catchphrase for us to arrest ourselves whenever we’re caught in a downward spiral, mentally and spiritually. From then on, we’ll say “Let’s believe all the way” when needed, and then that will remind us to open our list of verses we’ve been keeping so we can feed our spirit.
Deacon Yulius and Deaconess Angie also came to declare healing through the Lord’s finished work over our baby’s life. After visiting us, they went to our Caregroup (CG) that same night to worship and pray in tongues over our baby and us. In fact, we were supposed to host our CG at our home that same night! They sent us a recording of the worship to encourage us. It felt like all of heaven’s armies surrounded us that night at the hospital bed. This was the word declared.
“And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
—Exodus 14:13–14
Throughout my stay, our close kingdom friends stood in faith with us and declared the membranes of my womb to be sealed completely and for the fluid levels to increase! They brought us Holy Communion elements, anointing oil, continually prayed for us, and even celebrated my husband’s birthday in the hospital with us during my hospital stay. We thought that whatever may come, we are already blessed and loved beyond measure.
Our family, leaders, and kingdom friends really felt like the 4 friends who lowered us to Jesus when my husband and I were completely at the end of ourselves, without strength. Every morning, we completely zeroed out in surrender. Prayers, our list of healing verses, online services in the hospital’s garden, Pastor Prince’s 8 hours of spontaneous worship on YouTube, to mention a few, were the things that held us together and sane.
I was monitored for my fluid and infection levels once every 4 days. It was a grueling stay. Every morning, a doctor on rotation will come to my bed to repeat the diagnosis and ask me to make a decision whether to abort or keep the baby. Every 4 hours, the nurses would make their rounds to check vital signs and ask if I was experiencing any symptoms. The beeping sounds in the hospital ward were suffocating.
At the end of 10 days, I requested to be discharged, and the doctors relented as my AFI had risen to a borderline level of 6 cm, and the blood test for infection markers was normal. Praise the Lord! However, they still warned us about the risks of a sudden, premature delivery at home.
Being home with my husband was such a breath of fresh air. Though the anxieties would creep up at night, we believed the Lord had healed me, and the fluid levels were increasing, 30, 60, 100-fold.
I stayed home for about 1.5 weeks for the Chinese New Year holidays. Towards the end of week 23, I had to be readmitted to get the steroid injections to strengthen our baby’s lungs should he be born prematurely. What we hoped would be a few days’ stay turned out to be a month-long hospital stay.
During my stay, so much happened, but the Lord’s divine protection was so evident.
With these incidents week after week, this stay was extremely exhausting for both my husband and me. We felt so trapped by the attacks and being confined. I was in a ward with other patients with similar and other early pre-term pregnancy conditions. On some nights, I would hear a loud commotion as nurses rushed in to wheel them to the delivery ward. The next morning, I would find out that their babies were born prematurely. I could only muster whispers of prayer for safety over them and their babies. At the same time, I believed Psalm 91:7 in my heart for myself that “a thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.”
We were so weak and at the end of ourselves. Every morning was a decision to re-surrender to the Lord and exchange our weakness for His strength to continue this journey of faith. My husband had to shuttle to and fro the hospital to be with me in the afternoons. Our lifeline was Jesus’ finished work.
Daily, we partook of the Holy Communion, listened to the Day and Night devotionals on the Gospel Partner app, and journaled what the Lord spoke to us that day. Somehow, the devotionals always spoke to us accurately about what we needed for that day. On sleepless nights, we would tune in to Pastor Prince’s Healing Scriptures, spontaneous healing worship on a loop, and the sermon How Faith Wins The Battle You Can’t to fall asleep. All of these kept us anchored in His truth over the situation, despite our emotions.
A friend gifted us Pastor Prince’s 90-day devotional, The Healing Power of the Holy Communion. It was the perfect daily companion to take the Holy Communion with a fresh revelation each time. We had to keep choosing to guard our hearts and minds with the Lord’s peace through His finished work, declaring our baby will live and not die. By His stripes, my womb membranes are sealed, and because of His blood, our family, our baby, and I are protected from any harm.
Though difficult, the Lord’s mercies were new every morning, and His grace was truly sufficient to get through each day in the hospital. Our community from church continued to stand in faith with us.
When I asked to be discharged after the 2nd week, the doctors said I would need to sign an indemnity form as it would be against medical advice due to my condition. Despite wanting to escape the confines of the hospital, my husband and I did not have the peace in our spirits to insist on it, so I continued to stay on for close monitoring.
These were the 3 verses my husband and I held onto whenever fear crept in.
“No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.”
—Exodus 23:26
“I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done.”
—Psalm 118:17
“Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.”
—Malachi 3:11
Amidst the symptoms, scares, and fears, my fluid level slowly increased, and blood test results stayed normal week after week. The Lord was holding all things together.
At the start of my 5th week in the hospital, things took a beautiful turn. My AFI had increased to a high of 14cm, and the doctors actually said I could be discharged and continue as an outpatient without having to sign any indemnity form, as I have been stable! WOW! PRAISE THE LORD! We found this unbelievable, as it was completely different from what they had sternly warned us previously!
I would still be required to return weekly for monitoring. My husband and I took this as a clear signal from the Lord; it was finally time to go home!
Truly, the Lord’s timing is impeccable, and His peace guides our every step. Coincidentally, I was about to enter my 3rd trimester at week 28! Praise the Lord for liberating me from the confines of the hospital to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy at home with my husband and prepare our baby’s room together!
“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.”
—Proverbs 4:18
Armed with this word, we continued to trust the Lord to hold all things together, bring our baby to full term safely, and restore our days, which were robbed from us for the past 2 months, with increasing joy and peace!
During my weekly check-ups, my fluid level continued to remain stable, and my blood tests all came back normal.
There were 2 separate incidents during week 30 and week 32, where we went to the triage ward in the hospital in the middle of the night to get checked, as I felt another possible leak. However, each time the doctors checked, I was stable and cleared to return home again.
Mentally and emotionally, it was tough going through the days as the fears would creep back in the most random moments. Because of those incidents at home, I was afraid to live confidently and freely. My movements were always calculated. I was afraid to stand and walk for long. Even going to the toilet was scary.
Spiritually, each time it got overwhelming, we declared peace and shalom over our troubled hearts. His grace and divine protection got us through each day safely. Every day with our baby boy growing in my womb was a gift from the Lord!
On May 23, just as I entered week 36, I felt 2 big gushes and knew something was different with my water bag this time. We went to the triage ward that night. This time, our gynae said it’s time to deliver as our baby is already in a safe zone and would be born with very minimal to no complications.
During my labor, each time a rotating doctor or nurse on shift came into the delivery suite to check on how it was progressing, they would all be amazed and shocked in disbelief at how our baby managed to survive without any infection and stay in my womb all the way to week 36 despite my condition since week 20 (they backdated our PPROM start from week 17 due to that incident in Jeju). It felt like the Lord giving us a big bear hug, telling us He got this, and that we would see our baby very soon.
On May 25, 2026, our baby boy was born safely and healthily at 2.785kg! My husband and I cried tears of joy and relief when we heard his first loud cry and saw him in the operating theatre. He is healthy, and his lungs are strong! He went against all odds. Our gynae said his weight is even heavier than some full-term babies! All praise to Jesus!
As I am writing this testimony at home now, he has just turned 1 month old and is sleeping soundly in his room, which we got to prepare for him during my 3rd trimester at home. It truly is such a blessing and privilege to be his parents. He is our handpicked gift. Our hearts are so overwhelmed by the Lord’s perfect love demonstrated on the cross for us and His unending faithfulness to His promises of healing, which kept our baby’s life.
Truly, in this Year of Much More, what started out stormy, His word was our sure anchor during the challenging days. Jesus was always the captain in our boat despite all the emotions. We have finally docked and stepped into the promised land as a family of 3, into the 2nd half of the year! All praise and glory to Jesus. We trust the Lord for double the restoration of joy, peace, and provision in this promised land. We expect only good days ahead!
We’re extremely grateful for our families, our leaders, and our kingdom friends who have stood in faith with us, reminding us we fight from His victory ground the past 4 months for my complete healing and the life of our baby boy. We absolutely could not have sailed through this alone. They made the difficult days less lonely and the heavier days much lighter with their encouragement. We are so thankful for this community we have in church.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much, Pastor Prince and Team JP, for your ministry. If not for the revelation of His finished work, we would not have a sure hope of perfect healing over my condition. Because Jesus died, our baby boy can live an abundant life today!
