Stop worrying! Let God take over your situation

We live in a fallen earth, and there are always areas in our lives that could be better or where we are waiting for breakthroughs in, be it in our health, our relationships, our parenting, our careers or studies, and even our ministries. But as we journey through life, our heavenly Father wants us first to recognize and trust in His unwavering love and care for us. In our Christian walk, the way to receiving our breakthroughs is not through our own striving, but through surrendering our worries to our Father and resting in His perfect love.

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?”
—Matthew 6:28–30 NKJV
Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?
—Luke 12:24–26 NKJV

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus deliberately chose humble little creatures as examples to demonstrate how nothing escapes our Father’s care. The seemingly insignificant wildflowers, exposed to the harsh elements, and the ravens, considered unclean in Jewish culture, neither toil nor worry about their provision, yet our heavenly Father sustains them. How much more then, will He provide for us—His beloved sons and daughters who are infinitely more valuable to Him? Furthermore, Matthew 10:30 tells us that even the very hairs of our head are numbered! This speaks of the depth of our Father’s love and attention to even the smallest details of our lives.

Today, if you have been praying and waiting for a breakthrough, stop trying to control everything. If you have a fear, anxiety, worry, or concern, whether it’s a fear of growing old, of losing a loved one or a loved one’s love, of not being able to handle a situation at work, or even of death itself. Let it all go, and let God, His grace, His faith, take over. No one knows us, our needs, and the deepest desires of our hearts better than the One who created us. Just as the flowers don’t struggle to grow and the ravens don’t labor for their food, we can find peace and rest in knowing that our God cares for us and will provide for every need!

You were designed to have an appetite for God’s Word

In a previous sermon, Claim What Is Yours, Pastor Prince emphasized that the key to receiving and walking in our inheritance lies in two crucial steps: first, gaining knowledge of what is rightfully ours in Christ through reading the Word of God, and then actively laying claim to these blessings through meditating on the promises in His Word.

This is especially crucial in the world we live in, where we find ourselves constantly bombarded with distractions, such as social media, streaming services, and various other forms of entertainment that vie relentlessly for our attention. They can easily pull us away from the time we could have spent in God’s Word and the blessed life He meant for us to live.

Ask yourself, if you had an hour before bedtime, would you instinctively reach for your Bible, or would you gravitate toward your phone for a quick entertainment fix? Be honest!

Just as a child’s appetite for a nutritious meal can be spoiled by overindulging in sugary snacks, our desire for God’s Word can be dulled by excessive consumption of worldly entertainment. If you find yourself choosing the latter in the question above, please know that there is no condemnation. Instead, hear the gentle voice of your loving Father reminding you that you were made for more!
You were designed with an innate appetite for His Word, and a hunger for spiritual nourishment that far surpasses any fleeting satisfaction found in worldly distractions.

Today, your heavenly Father is inviting you to rediscover the unparalleled joy and fulfillment that comes from feasting on His Word! Psalm 119:130 tells us that the entrance of God’s Word gives light. As you spend time in His Word, His light will shine into your situations, bringing hope in the darkness and supernatural breakthroughs and freedom in your circumstances.

Ask God for the wisdom to read His Word!

Just as Joshua was instructed to possess the lands by walking, the way we possess our inheritance today is by “walking” through what has been promised to us in the Word.

The Bible says that Joshua was anointed with the spirit of wisdom when Moses laid hands on him (Deut. 34:9), and it was exactly this spirit of wisdom that caused Joshua to remember that the way to possess their possessions was to walk out the lands!

In Joshua 18, Joshua rebuked the seven tribes that were slack to possess the land God had given them. Shortly after, he instructed them to select three men from each tribe to walk through the land, in line with what the Lord had promised in Joshua 1:3—that every place the sole of their foot will tread upon, He will give to them.

Today, the way for us to possess the promises of God in our lives is by “walking” through the Word of God, and reading the different pages, books, chapters, and verses of the Bible.

Then he went up from there to the inhabitants of Debir (formerly the name of Debir was Kirjath Sepher). And Caleb said, “He who attacks Kirjath Sepher and takes it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as wife.”
—Joshua 15:15–16 NKJV

The word debir here means “oracle” and the name Kirjath Sepher means “city of the Book.” In other words, the Word of God is like a city that is our inheritance today, and we are to possess all the promises of God by taking ground through His Word.

Have you asked the Lord for wisdom in reading the Word today? The Word of God says that wisdom is the principal thing (Prov. 4:7), and that Christ has been made unto us first as wisdom (1 Cor. 1:30)! Even in the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, the Bible mentions first and foremost, the gift of “the word of wisdom” (1 Cor. 12:8). If you don’t understand God’s Word, ask of Him, and He will give His wisdom to you. And as you keep on reading the Word, you will see yourselves possessing all of His promises in the Word in all areas of your life.

Prosper in ALL areas of your life as you meditate on the Word of God

The key to Joshua’s success in possessing the promised land remains the key to prospering in every area of our lives today.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
—Joshua 1:8 NKJV

The Hebrew word for “meditate” here is hagah, which means to mutter or to speak. In other words, God’s instruction to Joshua was not just one of passive reading, but it was an instruction to actively and constantly engage with God’s Word, speaking it out and letting it be his constant focus.

While Joshua only had the first five books to meditate on in his time, as new covenant believers today, we have more than what Joshua had—we have so many more wonderful promises of God to meditate on, especially in the New Testament which reveals to us the grace of God! It is when we prioritize meditating on God’s Word that we will begin to prosper in all areas of our lives—this prosperity is not limited to our finances, it encompassess all that we do (Ps. 1:3), be it our relationships with our loved ones, our parenting, our careers, and even our health. Even the mistakes that we make, when we meditate, the Lord can work them for our good.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
—Psalm 1:2–3 NKJV

The Bible gives us a powerful example in the story of a woman named Hanah, a prophetess from the tribe of Asher. Even at an advanced age, Hanah was still able to walk to the temple, fast, and proclaim aloud the redemption of the Lord with a strong voice!

There was one Hanah, a prophetess, the daughter of Penu’el, of the tribe of Asher (she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity, and she had been a widow for about eighty-four years), who didn’t depart from the temple, worshipping with fastings and petitions night and day. Coming up at that very hour, she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of him to all those who were looking for redemption in Yerushalayim.
—Luke 2:36–38 HNV

Hanah’s life is a fulfillment of the blessing spoken over the tribe of Asher in Deuteronomy 33:25: “As your days, so shall your strength be.” Despite her advanced age, she enjoyed the supernatural strength, health, and life that come from prioritizing God’s Word. This same promise is available to us today. When we meditate on God’s Word, we receive not only success, but also the strength, health, and fruitfulness that is written of in Psalm 1 and that Hanah embodied!

Pastor Prince also shared a testimony that encouraged him when he was younger to hold fast to and meditate on the word of God. It is a testimony of a Christian man who was struggling academically during his teenage years despite his best efforts to memorize and study all that was taught. It was only when the Lord led him to meditate on the book of Proverbs that he experienced a supernatural turnaround—he began to excel and receive straight As!

So whether you’re a student, a parent, or someone seeking success in any area of life, the principle remains the same: prioritize God’s Word and place His Word at the center of your daily routine. When we consistently meditate on God’s Word, we position ourselves to receive divine wisdom, supernatural favor, and the blessing of good success in all that we do.

And especially for those having trouble sleeping, Pastor Prince also shared his personal testimony of how meditating on the Word of God helped him overcome his sleep problems. Despite only getting a few hours of sleep, he experienced a strength for the day far surpassing what a full night’s sleep could offer. Even David, who was no stranger to difficult nights, shared in Psalm 119:148 NASB: “My eyes anticipate the night watches, so that I may meditate on Your word.” In essence, David looked forward to every opportunity to meditate on God’s word, even in the night! As we hold onto every opportunity to meditate on His Word even at night, the Lord not only grants to us peace and good sleep, but also gives us the strength that exceeds what sleep alone can provide.

Ask and begin receiving God’s promises!

Remember Caleb’s daughter, Achsah? She had the boldness to ask her father for the upper and lower springs that will help sustain and nourish the land that he had already given her (Josh. 15:19). Achsah had the wisdom to not just rely on the natural circumstances of the weather to sustain her land, but she also possessed a spirit of bold faith to ask for a blessing that will greatly help her lay hold of the fullness of her inheritance.

Now it was so, when she came to him, that she persuaded him to ask her father for a field. So she dismounted from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, “What do you wish?” She answered, “Give me a blessing; since you have given me land in the South, give me also springs of water.” So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.
—Joshua 15:18–19 NKJV

The “upper springs” here represent the power of the Holy Spirit upon us that enables us to accomplish what is beyond our natural enablement, and the “lower springs” represent the Holy Spirit within us that guides us and leads us in our everyday lives (John 14:26). Whenever God gives us an assignment, He will not only guide us from within by giving us the willingness and the desire to do it (Phil. 2:13), but He will also enable us to accomplish it by giving us the power to!

Like Achsah, we too can come to our heavenly Father with bold faith to ask for His blessings and favor in all areas of our lives. Jesus Himself also encouraged us to ask our Father for good things, promising that He will generously give to those who ask Him in faith:

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
—Matthew 7:11 NKJV

So, will you meditate on this truth in the coming week? As you meditate on this verse, the revelation that God gives to those who ask will grow stronger in you, and you will be filled with the faith you need to ask of Him every day!
